Adirondack Fishing Reports

South Bay Lake Champlain Report

Bryant Abbuhl

We have been getting a lot of rain, and the lake is still high and a bit muddy.

The high conditions are great for sight fishing or bowfishing for the huge carp that call this bay home.

The bass and pike fishing is still fair, but the pike and smallmouth are both moving into deeper water.  I would not be afraid to fish is 35 feet of water for these guys in deeper water at the edges of weed beds. Trolling 15' deep diving rapalas can be very productive, but you need to check them every few minutes for weeds.

Catfishing has been excellent, some very big fish have been caught from shore on Shrimp and chicken liver.  The fish are fairly shallow at night, so you do not have to place your baits very far out to get into these tasty whiskers.
